SSP Budgam chairs public meeting ahead of Muharram | KNO

Srinagar, Jun 19 (KNO): In view of the upcoming holy month of Muharram, SSP Budgam Nikhil Borkar Thursday convened a public meeting at Magam to review preparations and ensure a peaceful observance of religious events. He was accompanied by SDPO Magam Mohd Ashrif Lissery and SHO Magam Mudassir Zaroo. The meeting was attended by a wide cross-section of the local population, including youth leaders, Shia community representatives, trade union members, market associations, Awqaf Committee members, and volunteers from Magam, Kanterbug, Kanihama, Watmagam, Habbak, Nooripora, and adjoining villages. Various issues and demands related to Muharram arrangements were raised by the participants. SSP Budgam gave a patient hearing and addressed several police-related concerns on the spot, a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). Directions were issued immediately to concerned officers for prompt redressal. Issues falling under the ambit of civil administration will be taken up with the relevant authorities. The participants expressed their full cooperation with the police and civil administration and assured that all religious events during Muharram would be conducted peacefully and in an atmosphere of harmony.
